Julien

Director Belgium-Luxembourg of Biotope and specialised in biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. He has participated in several studies on the implementation of environmental policies in Belgium and abroad. Julien has a very good knowledge of the Walloon regulatory context related to the protection of species and habitats. Julien has also participated in several studies aimed at highlighting the services provided by ecosystems in Europe and Africa.

Human Resources Manager at Biotope-Environnement, Maxence loves the Gaume region that surrounds him. As a keen hiker and trekker, he enjoys immersive experiences in close contact with nature. After 20 years spent in financial services in Luxemburg, she brings to Biotope Environnement her help for administrative and finance management.

Thomas

Graduated as a Bio-Engineer from Gembloux Agro Bio-Tech (ULiège), Thomas holds the position of sales and production coordinator in the Vance team. After 2 years as a project engineer in polluted soils remediation, followed by two years as a sales manager in the brewing industry, he aims to leverage his education and experience in a field he is passionate about: the preservation of the environment and biodiversity

Olivier

Heading the Brussels-Flanders office, Olivier holds a degree in bio-engineering from the University of Ghent. He has 15 years of experience in forest management and certification in the Congo Basin. He has also led the sustainable development and occupational safety department for 70k ha of agro-industrial plantations where he developed and implemented impact studies and environmental and social management plans. He is currently undergoing training to become an environmental coordinator (Type A).

Antoine

Graduated with a master’s degree in industrial engineering in agronomy with a focus on International Development, Antoine is a project manager in agroecology. He has worked for several years as a research engineer on banana systems in different regions of the world. Antoine has been entrusted with missions on pesticide-free variety selection programs, studying fungal diseases, and improving the management of these diseases through agroecological means for small farmers on the island of La Réunion and industrial plantations in West Africa.

Arthur, a graduate of Gembloux Agro Bio Tech (Université de Liège), feels passionate for tropical forests and their concerted, reasoned management and holds the position of “Tropical Forests” Project Manager at Biotope Environment. His years of experience abroad have enabled him to study the forests of Madagascar and the Congo Basin, and to analyze in depth the management and protection systems applied to them.

Ecologist and innovation project manager

Marlène

A statistician and geographer by training, Marlène is an ecologist and innovation project manager at Biotope Environnement. Marlène obtained her PhD from the University of Luxembourg, where she specialized in urban ecology, with a particular interest on the impact of urban vegetation characteristics on ecosystem services and carbon balance. She then worked on wildlife in the Brussels region.

Alexandre

Bioengineer specialized in forest and natural area management, Alexandre is a biodiversity project manager at Biotope Environnement. Graduated from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, Alexandre worked there for three years as a research engineer, specializing in silviculture, forest ecology, vegetation analysis methods, and project management.

Violette

Violette graduated as a bioengineer from Liege University. After taking part in a pilot study on the ecology of urban ground bees for Bruxelles Environnement in 2020, she joined the forest resource management unit of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech as a research engineer, studying the multifunctionality and resilience of temperate forests in Europe. She now holds the position of Biodiversity and Innovation Project Manager at Biotope Environnement.

Junior Ecology project manager

Nicolas

A graduate of an inter-university master’s degree in Agroecology from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (University of Liège) and AgroParisTech, Nicolas is now a junior ecology project manager for Biotope Environnement. After contributing to a research project studying the effect of agricultural practices on bee diversity and on the ecosystem service of pollination in Tanzania, he is now using his naturalist and generalist knowledge to contribute to all types of studies linked to biodiversity conservation.

With a degree in bioengineering from UCLouvain, Marie is in charge of forestry projects at Biotope Environnement Luxembourg. After studying the effect of species mixture on the architectural properties of oak, she continues her passion for forestry by taking part in the production of forest management plans in Luxembourg.

With a degree in Conservation Biology from the University of Liège, Coraline is a wildlife research officer at Biotope Environnement. She is interested in all fauna taxa, enabling her to gain an overall understanding of the fauna issues at stake in habitats and to integrate them as effectively as possible into the implementation of a wide range of projects.

Renaud is in charge of wildlife studies at Biotope Environnement, specialising in the identification and ecology of birds and bats. A biologist by training with a degree from the University of Liege, Renaud has carried out numerous ecological diagnoses as part of environmental impact studies for wind farm projects

Fabian

Wildlife researcher at Biotope Environnement. A biologist by training, Fabian graduated from UCLouvain. Fabian specialises in bird observation and study. He has carried out numerous initial diagnoses as part of environmental impact studies for wind farm projects in the Wallonia Region.

As a wildlife researcher at Biotope Environnement, Marine is specialised in the acoustic identification of bats and in the identification of the roosts of the different species. Marine has also carried out numerous studies on the identification of the potential for hosting these species and in the characterisation of the ecological issues for this group in Wallonia.

Sebastiaan graduated from the University of Leuven (KUL) in biology and is a botanist researcher at Biotope Environnement. Specialised in the identification of species and natural habitats, Sebastiaan is involved in numerous diagnostics in Wallonia, France and Luxembourg.

Laurann

Laurann is graduated fromthe University of Liège in organismal biology and ecology, with a major in Conservation Biology, Biodiversity and Management, she joins Biotope Environnement as a project manager – botanist. She also has a bachelor’s degree in agronomy with a focus on the environment. For her dissertation, Laurann travelled to Switzerland to inventory the plant species in an area that had been burnt down twenty years ago, with a view to studying the renewal of diversity over time. She also learned to identify different taxa in the Parc Naturel des Sources during her work placement.

Sebastien is  graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve with a bioengineering degree, specializing in forest and natural habitat managment. For his master thesis, he worked with the DEMNA on the comparison of two census methods (camera traps and headlights counting) for red deer monitoring in Saint-Hubert. He is also passionate about ornithology and has been self-taught He combines this passion with wildlife photography.

Quentin

Graduated from Lille University in nature study and management, Quentin is Mission Officer at Biotope Environnement. After taking part in a research project studying how linear transport-infrastructures impact terrestrian mammals and in a waterways renaturation on a polder territory in the North of France, he is now focusing on using his generalist background about ecosystems and fauna in order to protect them.

Catherine

With a bioengineering degree in forest and natural area management from UCLouvain, Catherine joined Biotope Environnement in Luxembourg as a forestry mission officer. After writing her master thesis on avian biodiversity in Louvain-la-Neuve, she took part in various research projects in a cloud forest reserve in Ecuador, before working in Quebec as a geomatics consultant for a forestry company. Thanks to these varied experiences, she is now actively involved in the sustainable, multifunctional management of forest ecosystems.

Julien holds a master’s degree in organismal biology and ecology, with a specialisation in integrated management of aquatic resources and aquaculture, from the University of Liège. He is currently in charge with ecology at Biotope Environnement Luxembourg. For his dissertation, he travelled to Madagascar to study the feasibility of rearing fish threatened by overfishing, with a view to reintroducing them to the reef. Passionate about aquatic environments and related issues, Julien intends to put his project management skills to good use at Biotope.

With a Master’s degree in Ecological Engineering from the University of Poitiers, Nicolas is now in charge of ecology at Biotope Environnement Luxembourg. With a multi-taxonomic profile, he is interested in the conservation of biodiversity from all angles, enabling him to understand the faunistic challenges on site and to integrate them as effectively as possible into the implementation of various projects.
