Forest inventory and management in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal” color=”#008f3b” thickness=”5″ up=”10″ down=”20″][vc_column_text css=””]To ensure that the Grand Duchy’s forests are managed in an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable way<\/strong>, Biotope Environnement Luxembourg is working with the Nature and Forest Agency. In this capacity, we carry out detailed forest inventories, an essential step in the design of forest management plans.
These management documents are essential for responsible forest management and must be updated every ten years for each forest estate managed by the State. To do this, we put our expertise and know-how<\/strong> to good use by carrying out dendrometric and physical measurements in order to provide a detailed description of each forest stand.
Drawing on our experience in the field, we draw up thematic maps and management guidelines, providing invaluable tools for sustainable and efficient forest management.

Geomatics and ecological continuity<\/h2>\n

We combine the use of geospatial data visualisation tools (naturalist and environmental) with various analysis tools such as:
– species distribution models (SDM);
– spatial statistics;
– characterisation of ecological networks.
Our expertise enables us to collect and interpret complex geospatial data in order to identify and characterise features that are unfavourable to the movement of species. We also provide recommendations for preserving and strengthening the ecological continuities (mobility corridors and habitat reservoirs) essential to biodiversity. These recommendations can also be delivered in the form of an action plan to meet specific needs.
Finally, our analyses also assess the impact of landscape modifications such as the restoration or creation of natural areas favourable to flora and fauna.
